What is Direct Response Copywriting?

Hello, DR Copywriters.

I’m reading your answers to my question…

What’s your understanding of Direct Response Copywriting?

All I can say is… you’re right!

DR copywriting is writing copy that converts and persuades your readers to take action.

But what I want to emphasize is that…

DR Copywriting is persuading your readers to take a very “SPECIFIC” action.

Here’s what I mean by that:

We can all be copywriters.

You and I can write product listings/ product descriptions.

You and I can write website copy.

You and I can write social media posts or so on…

But if your prospect reads your copy and just say…  “oh that’s interesting”.

Then you’re missing the DR in the DR copywriting.

Because what you should do as a DR copywriter is…

To light a fire under your readers butt and make them act more quickly and enthusiastically.

It’s bringing them from one step to another.

It’s making them BUY NOW because there’s NO best time to buy but now.

It’s persuading them to go straight to the “button” or check out page even if they have not read the whole 20-page sales copy yet.

So instead of them saying… This is cool

We want them to say…

WHERE CAN I GET THIS?

HOW MUCH IS THIS?

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS?

IS THIS FOR SALE?

I NEED THIS NOW!

Or

Make them assume that something is for sale, even there’s none.

YES!

DR copywriter’s role is to bring money to the table.

So we really need to make our readers act quickly!

That’s why…

DR Copywriters are very aggressive in testing.

They test different ideas, headlines, opening paragraphs (or lead), call to action… even colors for buttons, font styles, and font size.

And the results are easily trackable either through a special code or link.

This is a very broad topic but don’t worry!

I’ll be sharing more in the coming days for you to understand it better.

But for now, I want you to know that…

As DR Copywriters, our role is to write copy that makes our readers ACT NOW instead of LATER.
