Lead Generation Strategy: Linkedin

Here’s another effective yet easy lead generation strategy that has helped me find not just random prospects but targeted leads for my copywriting services.

We’ve tackled lead generation using Google where I’ve shared various ways on how to use it.

I have also taught you how to find your ideal copywriting clients using Facebook and Amazon.com.

And if you are an action taker and you have already implemented those strategies, then by now you probably have a long list of prospects.

But of course, prospecting is a habit you want to practice so the more lead generation strategies the better, right?

This time around, we’re going to use Linkedin.

Maybe you’ll ask…what makes this Linkedin strategy unique?

You see, most copywriters are just randomly searching “possible” prospects by typing keywords related to their niche…

Then they’ll add all those people who appeared in the search results hoping to find an ideal client among them.

I don’t know about you but even though this strategy works, I find this method very frustrating.

Because aside from just blindingly connecting with random people…

There is a big chance that your account might be blocked by Linkedin.

And you don’t want that, right?

You see, the beauty of knowing who you connect with in Linkedin or in any platform for that matter is that you are sure that those people you reach out to:

  1. Needs help with copywriting to grow their business and most importantly…
  2. They have the budget to pay for your copywriting services.

Are you excited to learn this newest lead generation strategy?

Let the prospecting begin!

Step 1: Pick a brand or business name

First off, let’s pretend our target market is business owners selling electronic products.

And since this method is somewhat related to the Amazon lead generation trick that I shared before…

Let’s go to Amazon.com first.

Click the drop-down menu for All Departments and select the category Electronics before hitting the search icon.

You will then be redirected to a list of electronic products.

What you will do next is pick a business name or brand you want to help.

For example: Nintendo

Now, let’s head over to Linkedin for the next step…

Step 2: Search for decision-makers on Linkedin

In the Linkedin search bar, type Nintendo and hit the search icon.

Our goal is to view Nintendo’s business page and see all their employees.

How do you do it?

Once you’ve landed on their business page, select the People tab and you will automatically see the names and designation of the people working in the said company.

All you need to do is look for the decision-makers in the group.

Those can either be the CEO, COO, CMO/ Marketing Head, or owners and founders.

Why are we eyeing to connect with them?

Because we want to directly communicate to those people who have a say when it comes to making major decisions for the company.

That way, we are efficiently offering our copywriting services to the right people who immediately need our help.

This method will save you time and energy…

Because you won’t have to go through a long, tiring process of talking to different people and waiting for weeks or even months before knowing if it’s a yes or a no.

And now that you’ve found them, you may now proceed with the next step…

Step 3: Connect

Simply open their Linkedin profile and send a connection request.

Don’t forget to add a short, personalized message.

Something that looks like this…

Hi [name],

I saw you are working with [company name].

I’d love to know more about you and your business.

I hope we can connect.

Thank you!

April

That is just a basic connection message that I use.

Remember, you can always experiment with different scripts and see which messaging gets people to accept your connection request the most.

Also, if by any chance his or her Linkedin account is private, then just opt to connect with other decision-makers.

Don’t connect with just one.

The secret to this strategy is to connect to as many decision-makers as possible in that specific company.

Because the more people you reach out to, the higher the chances for you to get connected with these key people.

And once you were able to connect with them, it would be much easier for you to offer your copywriting expertise.

Following this strategy allows you to grow your network in a targeted way because you are reaching out to the “right” people.

It also increases your chances of landing copywriting clients who do not only need your help in writing copy that converts…

But also recognizes the importance of your copywriting services in growing their business.

And to top it all, these targeted prospects sure can reward the results that your services can bring.

I hope you learned something new today and I’m looking forward to your wins by applying this lead generation strategy I shared.

Enjoy prospecting.
