How to Write Copy That Persuades Your Readers To Take Action

Hi Ms. April, how do you write a copy that persuades readers to take action?

I get asked this question a lot. And I understand why.
4 years ago, when I was still new to copywriting, I also asked the same question over and over.
Paano? Ano kaya secret ng ibang copywriters? San galing sinusulat nila?
Well, after years of not knowing anything, puzzled, and confused if this industry is for me.
I’ve finally realized…
It’s not the copy… but the market that I should keep track of.
Here’s something I realized in the past years…
And daming copywriting courses pero ko-konti lang lang nagtuturo ng research process. (This is my opinion after hoarding several courses haha)
Most of the time, these courses teach how to write copy fast, effectively, etc etc..
But only a handful discuss about the research process.
(Aminin nyo, dun din kayo curious, diba? haha)
Where in fact, writing a copy is only secondary in the process of writing persuasive copy.
Let me clarify that.
Learning copy is important. Of course!
But for me, you can’t really write a single word of effective or persuasive copy if…
  • You don’t understand your market and your product…
  • You don’t speak your market’s language, and…
  • You don’t know exactly what your market needs.
You see: copy serves as the bridge between your customer’s existing problem and your solution.
Read that again.
Copy serves as the bridge between your customer’s existing problem and your solution.
Again: It’s the bridge.
Kumbaga eto sya oh…
Problem (Market )—— Copy (Advertisement/ Promo)—- Solution (Product/ Service)
Nasa gitna sya.
So if you don’t know your market and the product…
Then how can you bridge the gap between the two and write effective or persuasive copy?
That’s why: research is very important in copywriting.
And once you understand your market and your product, I promise you: copywriting becomes stupid easy.
So, the question now is…
April, how do you do your research?
Well, I’ll share about my research process in my next post.
But I must say, it’s not as difficult as you think.
I’ll also share with you how you can slash your research time in half.
And how you can leverage your client’s assets to make research as easy as pie.
That’s it for today!
