How To Calculate A Reasonable Hourly Rate For Your Copywriting Service

“How much do you charge per hour?”

Most probably, you’ve been asked this question quite a lot.

But how confident are you in giving out your answer?

Sadly, some freelancers are only taking a guess just for the sake of having a “number”.

But this should never be the case.

In fact, computing for your hourly rate is so easy so long as you do your homework.

Here is the best way to calculate your hourly rate for your copywriting service:

Step 1: Set a monthly income goal

This is the first and most important step.

You need to be clear on how much income you want to generate in a month before coming up with your hourly pricing.

Step 2: Set the number of hours you want to work

Determine how many hours you want to work in a day, in a week, and for the whole month.

This will be your total time spent on writing copy.

Step 3: Do the math

Say your monthly income goal is $5,000 while you want to work for only 5 hours a day for 5 days a week and for 4 weeks in a month.

That is a total of 100 hours of work per month.

Our formula is:

Monthly income goal / total hours of work per month = your hourly rate

Based on our example above…

$5,000 / 100 hours = $50 per hour

That is your reasonable hourly rate.

Isn’t it easy?

I do hope that from now on, giving out your hourly rate for your copywriting service will be a breeze.

No more guessing!
