5 Types Of Direct Response Copy Every DR Businesses Use

What are the types of copy DR businesses need to generate more sales for their business?

Well, there’s actually a lot.

But I’ll focus on these 5. 🙂

I chose these 5 because based on my experience, DR businesses are always on a lookout for DR copywriters to write these creatives.

[Creatives: another term used in the DR space. This refers to copy. So instead saying copy, they say creatives]

Remember: DR businesses are aggressive in testing! That’s why I really LOVE working with them. You get to know the results immediately.

Aggressive testing also means they need more copy  to test or beat the control.

And that’s why you’re a valuable!  😉

When we say control… it refers to the existing sales copy.

As a DR copywriter, you are task to write new copy to test OR run against the control.

If your copy reaches a statistical significance, then it is considered a new control.

Statistical significance means a certain %. In the DR space, your copy will be considered the NEW control if you’ll beat the existing control by at least 15- 20%. 🙂

And this is why super exciting ang DR copywriting (at least for me) 😉

It’s a competitive world! 🙂

So without further ado, here are the 5 copy DR businesses always test to boost their bottomline.

FB Ad Copy

What you’re selling here is the click either going to an advertorial/ prelander page or sales page/ VSL.

Your fb ad copy should entice your prospect to click on the link.

Here are examples of FB ad copy

Advertorials/ Prelanders

Prelanders or advertorials tease your readers to a solution already or not yet revealed. Most of the time, prelanders are in the form of storytelling.

It’s not so salesy if compared to a sales page. But it should be inviting for your readers  click on the link to discover the solution NOW.

The goal is to sell clicks going to the sales page/ VLS.

Here’s an example of of online prelanders or advertorials.

Landing Page/ Opt-in page

Landing page is short. Most of the time, landing pages are used to capture your prospects emails in exchange of a lead magnet.

Here’s an example of a landing page.

Email Lifts/ Creatives

This is different from email sequences. It’s a stand-alone email.

DR businesses are aggressive in testing email lifts because it’s what drives prospects to the sales page.

Email lifts are teasers to your sales page/ VSL.

Here’s an example of email lifts.

Sales copy/ Video Sales Letter (VSL)

VSL and Sales copy are long form copy.

VSL takes up to 30 minutes to watch and the sales copy is over 20 pages long to read. They are also more than 3000 words in word count.

VSL and sales copy do the selling.

Here’s an example of a sample sales copy.

I’m sharing and showing you these 5 copy types because I want you to have an overview of the DR space and what types of copy DR businesses need. 😉

I’m doing this because… this is a common misconception for some copywriters..

Minsan kasi akala nila, if copywriter ka, you write sales copy. And yun na yun!

But the reality is, sales copy comes in different forms.

And that’s exactly what I just have shared with you  today. 😉
